THIS IS WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU VISIT ‘LADY BAGA’
How about escaping from the hectic routine of Delhi for some fun & frolic. Dining in shacks with your partner, having your favourite Sangria, shaking a leg on your desired number from the yesteryear singer-‘The Beatles’, having the vibes of Baga Beach, seas food, love & peace around you, sand beneath your feet & sky-like above you, multi-coloured and vivid flower influence around you. GOAAHH!! That was exactly the feeling when I stepped in. Yes, how about visiting Goa of Delhi?
I was invited to Lady Baga on women’s day. It was all colourful & bright. I was completely festooned by the charisma of this miniature sandy island washing ashore in Delhi. I am using a purple text colour to write about this lovely place, I thought to be more innovative & match it with the beautifully done Interiors of this place.
Lady Baga offers you, deck beds where you can sink back & feel the hum of the gently crashing waves surrounding you. The mattresses and laid back seatings will automatically attract you towards them. I wanted to get seated in one of those easy going seating, but all were occupied. Nevertheless, I sat at one of the chairs with my incredible coconut drink. There was life all around me, sparkling with joy and a riot of colour. From hammocks, splendid dream-catchers and bead curtains to brocade and tie-dye cushions; the ambiance was done remarkably. Lady Baga perfectly recreates the Goan culture. The aura of sand and bamboo reed and the matted banana leaf will resonate with the spirit of Goa in the ’60s.
I completely loved the theme they have here, so girlie & so lovely!! There is a girl out there with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair..that’s the theme. You can’t escape from the colourful environment this place offers you. Believe me; you will love your meal & everything about this place.
Lady Baga offers you part beach shack with it’s “HIPPIE” culture. It’s thoroughly Goan in spirit, at heart and in the kitchen. This place comes with free love, cheap beer and lip smacking food.
They serve you ‘GOA-ON A PLATTER’. This place awaits you with the spirit of hippies and the charm of old Goa; which comes with freedom & liberty. So for all those, who are tired of the metropolis life and culture & want a break for a couple of hours, must visit here. If you are a party animal & keep buzzing in & around Connaught Place, New Delhi you surely don’t need any more reason.
THE BEST THING I LIKED HERE
At Lady Baga, I was highly amused by their visual experience. It has been designed by Sabina Singh with Clement De’ Sylva, as a throwback to another time and what the shacks used to be like in yesteryear. They have weaved together little strands of memories to create a magical Goa moment for you. Their beach shack has the feel & appeal of the ’60s, of flower power and of the ecosystem that led the hippie movement. All this comes with great food, crazy drinks, and a trippy vibe.
THE MENU IS LAVISH & MOUTHWATERING
The menu serves authentic Goan food. When you visit Goa, all you need is seafood. Right? It is fresh and flown in every day from Goa! This is something too exciting. Isn’t it?
In the Appetizer and bar bites section, The Prawns, Crispy Fried Bombil which is served with coconut chutney; home-made chips, Yellow Submarine served with an assortment of dips. You can also order Father Lorenzo’s Chorizo, tossed in the traditional spice mix. Platter de Friar is a good combination with drinks and comes with magic mushroom, Porta Paneer, Gherkin & Jalapeno Chips with assorted dips and greens. I relished my non vegetarian platter.
For lazy bums, the menu starts with a breakfast at noon and is served until 8 pm. Ros Omelette is the local’s favourite breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner and midnight snacks are there for you. How about eating a well-done masala omelette topped with Goan-style chicken curry, garnished with chopped onions and coriander with pao on the side??For vegetarian lovers, there is a handsome breakfast too. This comes with fresh pancakes topped with Nutella and bananas, creamy mushrooms on toast, and served with yummy baked spicy potatoes and grilled tomatoes.
The food choice list is huge & goes along with cheese, eggs and ham, sandwiches…Salads & burger- The Woodstock Chicken with a melt in the mouth grilled chicken patty, cheddar cheese and tingling mustard sauce or a juicy Lamb burger with a mint and cumin-flavoured minced lamb patty, drizzled with red wine.
The Thali comes in a variety of options as vegetarian, chicken, mutton & fish served with rice, chapatti, salad, pickle and kokum shot. There is something for everyone here!
FOR MILKSHAKE LOVERS’
Grab a thick milkshake and watch the wave’s crash all day. You can have a fresh banana milkshake, delectable thick cold coffee, tasty strawberry or for a chocolate lover let a chocolate shake do the magic! There are a variety of cocktails & mocktails too. I am a coffee lover so I enjoyed my glass of cold coffee after coconut water. It was thick & creamy & gave me a strong kick of caffeine.
MY SWEET TOOTH
To savour my sweet tooth, we ordered the toffee pudding made with dates and brown sugar. This was spanking & made us crave for more. They had many other desserts like the sticky fingers, caramelized banana and vanilla ice cream. But, it was imperative to watch my calories intake too! I will eat the rest, the next time I visit.
So, those of you love Goa & are always looking to escape to Goa & party; or those who don’t get leaves from office to travel to Goa. Beware! Goa is not a flight away now but a drive away from your house.
