Azerbaijan’s capital Baku is home to the ‘World’s First Private Museum of Miniature Books’. Tell us about the two must-visit places in the country. 

Azerbaijan, a captivating blend of Eastern and Western cultures, offers a plethora of fascinating attractions for travellers. The Museum of Miniature Books, which is the first and one-of-a-kind in the world, is located within the walls of the magnificent Old City (Icherisheher) in Baku, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Icherisheher is a must-visit destination, where narrow cobblestone streets, ancient mosques, palaces and the iconic Maiden Tower offer a glimpse into Azerbaijan’s rich history.

Another remarkable place to visit in Azerbaijan would definitely be the north-western city of Sheki, in particular its stunning historic centre with the Khan’s Palace, which is another UNESCO World Heritage site.

Tea culture in Azerbaijan is an important social practice showcasing hospitality. Tell us about the culture and gastronomy of the country. 

Azerbaijan’s cuisine is a delightful tapestry of flavors and traditions, making it a haven for food enthusiasts and travelers alike. At the heart of our hospitality is the revered tea culture. One can embark on a journey from Baku’s bustling streets with its historic and modern architecture, drive along the tranquil shores of the Caspian Sea and explore the rugged beauty of the Absheron Peninsula. A traveller can venture to the mud volcanoes of Gobustan, a surreal lunar-like landscape. From Baku, you can drive to the second largest city of Azerbaijan – Ganja or the ancient city of Sheki, with their historic sites and monuments. You can drive along the Baku-Shamakhi-Ismayilli-Gabala road and enjoy breath-taking views of the countryside. Also, travellers are now able to drive to the city of Shusha – our cultural capital, and the settlement of Sugovushan.
