The most mountainous country in Europe

A country where Human Development Index is the highest!

A Scandinavian country with white landscapes, immense beauty and one can counter Polar bears wandering in the serenity of the place. It is the happiest country in world!

Here is a rendezvous with Ambassador of Norway to India.

H.E. Mr. Hans Jacob Frydenlund Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Royal Norwegian Embassy to India

Tell us about the must-try three things to do in Norway?

Three is a very small number, but I will try anyway! Norwegian summer as well as winter experiences are equally wonderful, so depending on your preference you can try the following:

During summer, try mountain hiking and view several of UNESCO’s world heritage sites in Western Norway. Viewing the fjords in the region is a must.

Experience all the attractions and urban life in the Norwegian cities of Oslo and Bergen. Oslo has an amazing waterfront with beaches in the centre itself, housing, offices, restaurants, the Opera and a new Munch museum coming up. Bergen is well-known for its funicular (Fløibanen) or the cable car (Ulriksbanen) to enjoy the panoramic view of the city.

During winter, experience the Northern lights amid complete darkness. You can also go dog-sledding and stay at a Snow hotel. You can combine this with a trip to Tromsø, “Paris of the North”.

What do you like the most about Norway?

Norway, as we say, is ‘powered by nature’! Outdoor life with plenty of options for hiking, skiing and boating is almost therapeutic. We are a small country, so you can experience a lot in a short space of time.

Rail journey in Norway is very famous in the entire Europe. What makes it so special?

Travelling by train in Norway is special because you get to see a lot of the country and the varied nature in one trip. I would recommend the Flåm rail route for a great scenic experience. You can combine it with a fjord cruise too.
