Taj Mahal, New Delhi
The Indian Hotels Company Limited participating in the ‘go green’ act has announced ‘Paathya’, a six pillared initiative. The six pillars of this program are Environmental Stewardship, Social Responsibility, Excellence in Governance, Preserving Heritage, Value Chain Transformation, and Sustainable Growth. Under the plan, the group has replaced Big fresh air fans (30 HP) with 3 AHUs for the laundry, water is pre-heated using a rainwater harvesting technique and solar panels, and laundry bags, dusters, and trolley covers are made from discarded linen.
JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa
JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa actively participates in sustainable growth and development with their greenhouse. The greenhouse is made up of nature’s elements that include a varied range of florals and herbs. The guests can spend a quality time with nature here. The property also houses a Botanical Café that showcases ‘Implant Health’ – nutrition extracted meaningfully from plants. The food and beverages offered on the menu are completely vegan and 100% drawn from their organic garden.
Shangri-La Bengaluru
The Shangri-La Bengaluru has established many Go Green initiatives one of which is ‘Rooted in Nature’. Through this camp, the group will associate with the local vendors to get the best of organic, authentic local jams. These jams will be made up of seasonal fruits and filled in recycled jars. The chain has replaced plastic bottles with glass bottles and plastic pens with wooden pens. 90 percent of the hotel’s electricity is supplied by the solar power plant.

Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas sustainability charter works in a way that focuses on social, economic and environmental sustainability. The hotel group has initiated several programmes to carry out its duty toward the environment. The group purchases products that are durable, repairable and able to be recycled. Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas has resorted to minimizing water consumption, reducing, reusing and recycling solid waste through composting programs, supporting and helping local businesses flourish etc.
Roseate Hotels & Resorts
The Roseate Hotel & Resorts group, fulfilling their responsibility towards the environment, focuses on 100 percent recycling of wastewater, zero plastic straw usage, optimal energy usage, and sustainable waste disposal. The hotel group utilizes the kitchen waste and recycles it in their gardens in the form of composts. Keeping in mind sustainability, the chain has introduced in-house water bottles replacing the typical plastic bottles with glass ones.
Pimalai Resort & Spa, Krabi
Pimalai Resort & Spa, Koh Lanta, adheres to the Zero food waste policy. The hotel utilizes all the leftovers and uses them to make fertilizers. The hotel fulfills its duty towards the environment by collecting water in its reservoirs, treating the water completely and then watering it to the plants, maintaining zero discharge. Contributing to the go green motto, the hotel has also conducted activities such as coral propagation, supporting students from local schools to learn sciences etc.
The Metropolitan Hotel & Spa
The Metropolitan Hotel & Spa has taken the initiative to enhance environment-friendly management systems in their operations with their environment program, EcoMet. The Ecological Philosophy of The Metropolitan Hotel (EcoMet) aims at following the three ‘R’s – reduce, reuse and recycle and create a balance between human consumption and provision of nature. Practices like the usage of state-of-the-art technologies for less energy consumption, reflective Triple glazed windows, eco-friendly light colors and furnishings, improved water management systems and furniture made out of eco-friendly wood have been induced by the hotel.
Crowne Plaza Greater Noida
InterContinental Hotels Group has devoted an online sustainability system, IHG Green Engage where the hotel group can manage their 200+ ‘Green Solutions’, that have been created with regard to reducing energy, water, and waste, and improving overall impact on the environment. The IHG Green Engage system has four levels of certification, and those achieving Level 3 certification or above can reduce energy use by up to 25%. The Crowne Plaza, Greater Noida has also implemented rainwater harvesting and daily monitoring of food wastage in their systems.

Fern Hotels considers going green to be its characteristic. The Hotel group actively takes part in planting saplings, clean-up drives, hygiene sessions with kids etc. They follow the ‘go green’ decorum very carefully with many different strategies for different resources. Using BMS Automation for Energy management, organic daily-use articles for waste management, Sewage Treatment Plant for water conservation etc. These ecologically friendly hotels have also been recognized for their pro-environment operations and activities by the HICAP, Gujarat Tourism and IASAP.

Taking up initiatives such as ‘Travel with Purpose’, ‘Light Stay’ etc the Hilton hotels have contributed effectively to the environment. The brand commits to sustainable travel and to bring about eco-sensitive changes in its operations, supply chain and communities. The brand has obliged to reduce carbon footprints with electric vehicles, monitoring energy, water and waste. To carry these operations out the group has installed motion-sensored lights, controlled water pressure tap, using biodegradable pens and more.
Raga on the Ganges
Flanked by hills on all sides and nestled amidst a lush green forest, Raga on the Ganges is a luxury boutique resort offering an experiential getaway from the city. Located at Village Singthali, 35 km from Rishikesh, Raga on the Ganges are taking gradual steps to imbibe organic practices rooted in environmental conservation. They have also installed 3-4 new water tanks with a new sedimentation system that enables us to pump up and purify the Ganga water to be used by everyone at the property.
