Beachcomber works on the ‘Art of Beautiful’. Comment.
Our vocation is already in our name: Beachcomber, one who walks along the beach to discover the treasures the sea has left on the shore. As a Mauritian company, and pioneer of the hospitality industry in Mauritius, we are aware of the gift nature has given us: to live in one of the most beautiful islands of the Indian Ocean. We have chosen to share this gift with the world by creating a family of resorts, giving our guests the opportunity to live exceptional moments. We believe that the beauty of our resorts are enhanced by the quality of our service and the kindness of our teams. Our belief is that the beauty of a place inspires the beauty of the heart, and we pledge to cultivate the art of beauty in all its dimensions. Our commitment to nature’s gift involves passing it on to future generations while respecting each team member’s unique hospitality concept.
Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels has always taken a leading role with regards to innovative sustainable practices. Our environmental and social journey began in 1983 with the setting-up of wastewater management and treatment plants across our resorts. Over the years our commitments to sustainability were further enhanced through the adoption of new technologies and practices including desalination plants, photovoltaic panels, no single use plastic policy, rainwater harvesting, and an effective waste management policy. We also take pride in being Mauritius’s pioneer in corporate and social responsibility, the Fondation Espoir Développement Beachcomber, launched in 1999, has empowered over 20,000 people through seven key projects.
In 2015, Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels embarked on the EarthCheck certification process, an internationally recognised environmental certification and benchmarking programme for the travel and tourism industry. Last year, we became the first hotel group in Mauritius to achieve the prestigious EarthCheck Gold Certification for 3 of our properties: Paradis Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa, Dinarobin Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa, and the Beachcomber House. This year, our goal is to attain EarthCheck Gold for our 8 hotels in Mauritius and our Head-Office.
