The British High Commission in New Delhi hosted a grand celebration on 31 October to mark the birthday of His Majesty King Charles III. The event honoured the UK’s Head of State and highlighted the growing strength of UK-India relations. India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, attended as Chief Guest.
This year has been a milestone in bilateral ties, with the signing of a landmark Free Trade Agreement, a shared 2035 vision, and reciprocal visits by Prime Ministers Rishi Sunak and Narendra Modi. In a personal gesture, King Charles welcomed Prime Minister Modi to Sandringham and gifted him a Kadamb tree for his 75th birthday, supporting the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
As Prince of Wales, His Majesty made 10 official visits to India and has long championed public service, founding over 20 charities across four decades.
The evening brought together senior Indian officials, Commonwealth representatives, business leaders, and cultural figures. Guests enjoyed a curated menu of British cheeses, wines, and Indo-British fusion cuisine, alongside live performances of iconic British music.
British High Commissioner Lindy Cameron said, “This celebration reflects the deep friendship and shared ambition between our nations. With climate action and clean energy at the heart of our 2035 vision, the UK-India partnership is stronger than ever.”
