To celebrate the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM)—the largest museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization—Ambassador of Egypt to India, H.E. Kamel Galal, and Mrs. Reham Handoussa hosted an elegant evening at Egypt House, the official residence of the Egyptian Embassy.
The gathering drew a distinguished crowd, including diplomats, business leaders, and members of Delhi’s arts community. Guests were treated to a film showcasing the Grand Egyptian Museum, followed by a graceful Kathak performance by Shivani Varma, blending Indian and pharaonic melodies. The evening also featured a vibrant Tanoura dance by Egyptian artist Ahmed Atta, specially invited for the occasion.
Attendees learned about a curated VIP travel experience designed for Indian visitors to explore Egypt’s iconic sites, with the Grand Egyptian Museum as a highlight. The celebration concluded with a lavish spread of traditional Egyptian cuisine, prepared in the Ambassador’s own kitchen.
In his address, H.E. Kamel Galal described the museum as a monumental tribute to Egypt’s rich heritage, calling it “a gift to humanity—bridging our ancient legacy with modern aspirations.”
