President Anura Kumara Disanayaka arrived in India to attend the AI Impact Summit 2026, the first summit of its kind to be hosted in the Global South. The high-level event takes place at a crucial moment, as emerging technologies continue to rapidly reshape economies and societies worldwide. Sri Lanka’s participation reflects the importance and strength of the India–Sri Lanka partnership, along with a shared commitment to ensuring that innovation remains inclusive, responsible, and people-centred.
The visit follows the President’s landmark State Visit to India in December 2024 and the joint vision statement, “Fostering Partnerships for a Shared Future.” Since then, both nations have expanded cooperation in areas such as connectivity, economic engagement, digital collaboration, capacity building, and people-to-people exchanges. As a key South Asian leader at the summit, President Disanayaka’s presence highlights the close bilateral ties and a shared determination to shape a future built on trust, cooperation, and collective progress.
