The New Air Route launched

The Allan Labor Government and Air India have joined together to launch a new air route into Melbourne from the second-largest city in India. This initiative will boost tourism and student enrollment in the state, expand business prospects, and generate hundreds of jobs for locals.

Air India will begin nonstop service from Mumbai to Melbourne in December 2023, with three weekly flights.

This is the first time an airline has offered a non-stop route between Mumbai and Australia in over 40 years. With the addition of direct flights, Victoria will become much more accessible to Indian tourists. With 368 tonnes of goods worth $33 million exported by air freight to India in the previous fiscal year, India is already a rapidly expanding export market.
