What are the goals The Residence Maldives caters to as a global commitment to Nature aiming with diverse sustainability initiatives?
Environmental and Sustainability aspects are very important for present-day travellers and we give immense importance to this in all our offerings and activities. Reduce, Reuse & Recycle. Our own Mineral Water Bottling plant saves thousands of plastic water bottles by using glass bottles. The Heat produced from the Air-Conditioning outdoor unit is used to heat the water heater tanks in the villas through the heat recovery system. Sewage water is treated and reused to water the plants. The Air-Conditioners in the villas shut down automatically when the sliding doors are opened. No single plastic stirrers or straws are used; instead, we use paper straws and bamboo stirrers. We also have Solar Panels in one of our Islands which contribute 25% of our electricity production.
The Residence Maldives also engages with the local community in different ways. We purchase Tuna and Reef Fish from the local Fishermen as well as Fruits and Vegetables produced in the local Islands. In addition to these, the resorts donate machinery and equipment for the local island hospitals and schools based on the requirements.
