Kazakhstan is known for its architectural marvels, the Caspian Sea, and the wild horses. Tell us about the three must-do things in the country.
I would strongly recommend you to visit our wonderful cities of Astana, Almaty and Shymkent, as well as colorful and amazing natural places that are located near these cities, such as the Kolsai Lakes, the State National Natural Park ‘Burabay’ as well as one of the oldest cities in Central Asia – Turkestan. Secondly, I would advise anyone who came to Kazakhstan for the first time to taste our Kazakh national cuisine, the cuisine of nomadic peoples, which reflects our cultural traditions. And in the end, I would suggest tourists from India to go to our wonderful museums, where you can get to know the history and culture of the ancient nomads.
What is the country doing toward sustainability?
Kazakhstan remains committed to implementing the sustainable development goals (SDGs). Since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda, our country has been working step-by-step towards sustainable development. To date, Kazakhstan has introduced and effectively operates an institutional architecture to facilitate the achievement of the SDGs. The five main areas of sustainable development goals are People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, and Partnerships. In July 2022, at the High-Level Political Forum at the UN headquarters in New York, Kazakhstan successfully presented the second Voluntary National Survey on Sustainable Development by 2030, formed with the active participation of inter-agency working groups, the non-governmental sector, experts and international organizations. The document is a comprehensive assessment of Kazakhstan’s progress over the past three years.
