On 06 July 2027 – Liberation Day, celebrated on 4 July, marks Rwanda’s victory over oppression and the beginning of its national renewal. The 32nd anniversary was commemorated in New Delhi with a grand event hosted by the High Commission of Rwanda, attended by nearly 1,000 dignitaries, diplomats, business leaders, scholars, and members of the Rwandan community.
High Commissioner Jacqueline Mukangira opened the ceremony, reflecting on Rwanda’s journey from colonial divisions and the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi to peace, unity, and progress under President Paul Kagame. She paid tribute to the Rwandan Patriotic Army and highlighted Rwanda’s achievements in governance, security, and economic growth, while encouraging Indian investment in Rwanda’s promising business and tourism sectors.
Chief Guest Shri Pabitra Margherita, Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, commended Rwanda’s reconciliation efforts and praised the strong partnership between Rwanda and India. The programme also featured remarks from Indian investors underscoring Rwanda’s favourable business environment. red heritage between the two nations.
