On the 17th of December, His Excellency, Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue, President, National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Members of the Parliamentary delegation accompanying him Excellencies, and dignitaries, were addressed by Dr. S Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs, India on the occasion of  Five years of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Vietnam.  Along with the celebration, the inauguration of the New Residential Building of the Vietnam Embassy in New Delhi also took place.

H.E. Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue, President, National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam said, “ It is a great pleasure for me to join you all on this important occasion. Five years ago, I had the honour of accompanying Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his visit to Vietnam when it was agreed that we would establish a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. We have come to some distance since then and have good reason to be satisfied with the state of progress. Yet, this is both an occasion to take stock as well as to look forward into the future.”

He further added, “We also stand close to another milestone; next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of India-Vietnam diplomatic relations. The mutual trust and sincere bonds of friendship that have developed over this half-century have matured into a partnership that we see today. And it is truly a wide-ranging one, that encompasses political engagement, trade & investment ties, energy cooperation, development partnership, defense and security cooperation, and people-to-people relations.”

On this occasion, three MOUs have been signed on Parliamentary cooperation, Information & Technology, and Marine sciences. Two letters of intent have also been concluded in the domain of posts and digital media. 12 business MOUs have been signed between respective countries’ enterprises.

All these points add up to the upward trajectory of India and Vietnam. The India-Vietnam partnership will be a significant stabilizing factor in the Indo-Pacific.
