Air Mauritius, the national carrier, will launch a weekly flight from Chennai to Mauritius starting on 13 April 2024, using an Airbus A330 aircraft with 254 seats, lasting 5 hours 45 minutes. Mauritius, an African island nation, is known for its white sandy beaches, turquoise waters, mountains, and protected UNESCO World Heritage sites. With a diverse population from Europe, India, Africa, and China, it offers warm hospitality and diverse cuisine.
Mr. Arvind Bundhun, Director of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, highlighted the significance of this milestone, stating, ‘The reinstated flight from Chennai to Mauritius is a significant step forward in facilitating travel for visitors from Southern India.
