New Delhi, 21 August 2026 — The High Commission of Jamaica hosted a vibrant reception at The Grand Hotel to mark Jamaica’s 64th Independence Day. High Commissioner Jason K.M. Hall welcomed dignitaries including Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Shri Pabitra Margherita, ambassadors, defence attachés, and senior officials.
In his remarks, High Commissioner Hall reflected on Jamaica’s journey from slavery to independence in 1962, honouring the resilience of its people. He emphasised Jamaica’s enduring friendship with India, rooted in shared democratic values and enriched by cultural ties from Indian indentured workers.
Minister Margherita reaffirmed India’s commitment to expanding cooperation in healthcare, disaster relief, renewable energy, defence training, and cultural exchange.
Guests enjoyed authentic Jamaican cuisine, Blue Mountain coffee, premium rum, and live performances, showcasing Jamaica’s vibrant spirit and strengthening India–Jamaica ties.
