King’s Birthday Celebration at the British High Commission

On 12 October, the British High Commission in New Delhi hosted the King’s Birthday Party, its annual celebration honouring His Majesty King Charles III, the United Kingdom’s Head of State. Hosted by Lindy Cameron, British High Commissioner to India, the event brought together senior government representatives, diplomats, business leaders, academics and members of the UK-India community to celebrate the deep and enduring ties between the two nations. The Chief Guest for the evening was Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences.

The celebration took place at a significant moment in UK-India relations, with the implementation of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) marking a new chapter in bilateral cooperation. The agreement is expected to boost trade, investment and innovation across sectors such as advanced manufacturing, clean energy, technology, life sciences and higher education. The evening also witnessed the participation of senior UK Cabinet ministers, business leaders and a delegation of mayors and regional leaders from northern England, highlighting India’s importance as a long-term strategic partner for the United Kingdom.

Speaking on the occasion, Lindy Cameron, British High Commissioner to India, said: “The King’s Birthday Party is an opportunity to celebrate His Majesty The King, a passionate environmentalist and advocate for closer UK and India ties. Like the Sonoma tree gifted by PM Modi to His Majesty last year, the UK-India partnership has grown both in strength and ambition in 2026, with our landmark Free Trade Agreement now in effect. It is fantastic to join so many friends and ambassadors of the UK-India living bridge in Delhi to celebrate both His Majesty and our partnership together.”

Guests enjoyed a live performance by Indian soprano Anusha Merrin and experienced a showcase of British excellence in food, beverages, innovation and luxury automotive brands. The evening served as a fitting celebration of the vibrant cultural, economic and people-to-people connections that continue to strengthen the UK-India partnership.
